Friendly Footprints Living sustainably Past and Present

Green Ideas

Here are a few helpful tips that require minimal effort, but will help to give you a friendlier footprint:

  • Only fill the kettle with the water you’ll actually use.
  • Fix dripping taps.
  • Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth.
  • Insulate your water pipes.
  • Put a water butt in your garden.
  • Always turn lights off when you leave a room.
  • Make sure your central heating is switched off when nobody is at home.
  • Instead of throwing away a pair of laddered tights, repair the ladder by putting a small drop of clear nail varnish over it.
  • Walk or cycle short distances.
  • Car share when possible.
  • Have a shower instead of a bath.
  • Buy locally-produced food, grow your own fruit and vegetables, and turn your kitchen waste into compost.
  • Donate unwanted clothes to charity shops.
